100% made from Carignan grapes grown at higher altitudes on vines that are over 100 years old, this wine is full-bodied with great depth, vivacity and real typicity...
The grapes are handpicked and collected in small crates before being transferred to a tank that has previously been saturated with carbonic gas. Carbonic maceration, lasting 10 to 15 days, allows for the development of youthful, typical aromas. Our technique also enables us to bring out round, fine tannins of high quality. 15% of the wine is aged in new oak barrels to lend roundness and additional complexity.
Boasting beautiful black colour with subtle tinges of violet, this wine features notes of prune, blackcurrant, wild strawberry and black cherry. It is soft and flavourful on the palate with flavours echoing the aromas perceived on the nose and elegant tannins. Optimal maturity of the grapes and controlled yields enable us to craft this full-bodied wine.
This dark-skinned grape variety which originated in Aragon was introduced to France in the 12th century where it soon became one of the country's leading varietals. Despite widespread pulling out of Carignan vines over the last few years, they still cover a surface area of 102,000 hectares in France, with a concentration in three southern regions: Languedoc-Roussillon, Provence and, on a smaller scale, Corsica.
